Outpost

Remote work that actually suits you

Privacy

What Outpost stores about you, why, and how to remove it. Last updated October 2026.

Without an account

Jobs you save, hide, annotate or track are kept in your browser (IndexedDB), not on Outpost’s servers. Clearing your browser data removes them.

If you try the example preferences, a cookie remembers that choice for 30 days. It holds no personal data.

With an account

  • Your email address and a scrypt hash of your password (never the password itself).
  • The preferences you set, which verdicts are judged against.
  • Saved searches, and which jobs have been included in their digests so none repeats.
  • A synced copy of your tracker (saved and hidden jobs, notes, application status), so it follows you between browsers.

These are used only to run your account. Email digests aren’t sent yet; when they are, they’ll go only to the address you signed up with, for searches you saved.

Cookies

  • outpost_user: keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.
  • outpost_example: remembers that you switched on the example preferences.
  • outpost_admin: the site administrator’s sign-in only.

All are strictly necessary for what you asked the site to do. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Security and abuse prevention

To limit password guessing and spam sign-ups, failed sign-ins and sign-ups are counted per IP address and per email address for up to an hour, then deleted.

Who handles the data

The site is hosted by Vercel and its database by Neon, both in London. Job ads (never your data) may be sent to Anthropic’s API to be checked.

Removing your data

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Everything stored with it is removed straight away. For anything else, email info@test.com.
